Maritime JSON
Sanctioned and port-banned vessels, with the companies and people listed alongside them, for shipping, trade-finance and insurance checks. Records carry the IMO number wherever the publisher gives one, so you can screen a ship by number, not just by name.
This collection covers designations and port bans. Our vessel registry of about 1.75M US-registered ships is reference data and is counted on its own, on the Know your business page.

File fields
The simplified CSV (targets.simple.csv) is the easiest file for checking vessels: one row per record, with the IMO number in identifiers. Its columns:

| id | Our identifier for the record, stable between builds (crown- + record number). |
| schema | Entity type: Vessel, Company, Person or LegalEntity when the publisher does not say. |
| name | The name as published: the vessel name, or the company or person listed with it. |
| aliases | Other names the publisher gives, such as former vessel names, separated by semicolons. |
| birth_date | For people only, where published. Empty for vessels. |
| countries | Countries linked to the record, as ISO codes, where the publisher gives one. Flag states are not recorded yet. |
| addresses | Not recorded for this collection yet. |
| identifiers | The IMO number, written IMO + seven digits, where the publisher gives one. MMSI numbers are not recorded yet. |
| sanctions | The programme or action and the list it comes from, e.g. “CUBA - OFAC SDN” or a Paris MoU port ban. |
| phones, emails | Not recorded for this collection. |
| program_ids | Programme codes, where the publisher gives them. |
| dataset | The source list, e.g. ofac_sdn, paris_mou_banned. |
| first_seen, last_seen, last_change | When we first and last loaded the record, and when it last changed (ISO 8601, UTC). |
Not every vessel record has an IMO number: some publishers list a ship by name only. Match on the IMO number where you have one and fall back to the name and aliases otherwise. See the model reference for the other formats.
