About Crown Intelligence

Crown Intelligence turns 1,278 official sanctions, PEP, debarment and registry sources into one screening record set for compliance, legal, risk and investigations teams. We are a Canadian company based in Oshawa, Ontario: we collect the records, make them consistent and credit every one to its publisher.

What we do

Sanctions lists, politically exposed persons, debarred parties, corporate registries and beneficial ownership records already exist in the public record. They are spread across more than a thousand government and regulator feeds, in a dozen formats, each updated on its publisher's own schedule. Crown Intelligence collects them, reconciles the duplicates, refreshes them on a schedule you can see, and puts them behind one search box and one API. We build for Canadian compliance teams first and make it work for American ones too.

Each source is read on its own cadence and every run is logged, so each source shows when we last confirmed it; see freshness. Records describing the same person, company or vessel are merged into one entity while keeping every source statement behind it; see the methodology.

The result is published as collections such as consolidated sanctions, politically exposed persons and Crown Default, each available to search, to download in bulk, and through the screening API. Organisations that need the data inside their own systems can use an on-premise deployment.

What makes us different

  • Canada first, by name. We list Canada's instruments individually: the Special Economic Measures Act and its country schedules, the Magnitsky list, Criminal Code listed entities, the PSPC Integrity Regime and Canadian PEP sources. See the Canada page and the United States page.
  • Provenance on every record. Every record names its publisher, the list it came from and the date we last confirmed it. Where a field comes from our own research, or a publisher restricts redistribution, the record says so. Our licence positions are published per source.
  • Fees are for the service, not the data. The underlying records belong to the public. Search, record views and downloads of the public data are free; a licence pays for the convenience of the API, bulk delivery, screening and support. This is written into our data licence.

Why public records

Our starting point is simple: the government already published this. Sanctions orders, PEP disclosures, debarment notices, corporate registrations and ownership filings are public record. We did not create them and we do not claim to own them. What we built is the pipeline that most compliance and investigative teams do not have time to build: feeds monitored on a schedule, cleaned and merged into one consistent record per entity, checked for freshness, and served through search, bulk files and an API.

Public data should be checkable. Because every record links back to its publisher, anyone relying on it can verify a match at the source before acting on it, and can tell us when something is wrong at [email protected].

What we aim for

  • Documentation for every file and endpoint, starting with using the data and the model reference.
  • Full bulk downloads of every collection, not just a search box.
  • Gaps stated openly: what we do not hold yet is listed rather than hidden, and every change is announced in the change log.
