Inclusion criteria
Which sources we collect, and why. This page lists the kinds of registers in our data today and the checks a source goes through before its records are published. Our formal source-selection policy is being written.
Kinds of sources we hold today
Every source is an official or public register, collected from its publisher. By list type:
| Kind | Examples of publishers | Records today |
|---|---|---|
| Sanctions and asset-freeze lists | Global Affairs Canada, US Treasury (OFAC), the European Union, the UK, the United Nations | 350,348 |
| Politically exposed persons and public office holders | Parliaments, election bodies and public-official registers | 1,303,162 |
| Debarment and exclusion lists | Procurement, health-programme and professional regulators | 880,247 |
| Regulatory and enforcement notices | Published tax warrants and insolvency proceedings | — |
| Company, ownership and other registries | Business and beneficial-ownership registers, used to corroborate and enrich | Not in the screening data |
The full list of registers, with their publishers and record counts, is on All data sources. How we collect them is on Methodology.

Licence and legality
Before a register’s records are published or offered for download, we record the publisher’s terms of use and a licence position for it. Registers that may not be redistributed stay out of the bulk files, and some are used only to check other sources. The positions are listed on Licence positions, and the terms for reusing our data are in the data licence. Recording each register’s actual licence terms, where only a default rule applies today, is data backlog item 34.
Suggest a source
If you know of an official register we should collect, use the suggest-a-source form on the contact page, or write to [email protected]. Give the register’s name, its publisher and a link to it.
