Know-your-business data
Beside the screening lists, we hold official registers that record who companies and people are: company registers, registered persons, beneficial ownership, legal entity identifiers and a vessel register. They help confirm a customer's identity and enrich a screening result. They are kept apart from the screening collections because of their size and because a registry entry is not a risk signal.
Company records
From national business registers and the LEI system.
Registered persons
People recorded in official registers in their own right.
Beneficial owners
People with significant control over companies.
Registered vessels
From the US Coast Guard vessel register.
Approximate table counts, read live. For comparison, the whole Crown Default screening download holds — records. Details by register are on the know-your-business collection page.
How it differs from the screening data
- Not deduplicated. A company that appears in two registers is two records, and registry records are not matched to screening records.
- Not in the screening collections. Registry figures are never added to sanctions, PEP or debarment figures, and registry records are not returned by search or screening.
- Loaded from each publisher's own release, on that publisher's schedule, which for most registers is far less frequent than the sanctions lists.
What it is not
This is not a worldwide company database. Company registers come from twelve countries (Australia, Brazil, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States) plus the global LEI and research-organisation registers; beneficial ownership covers UK companies only. For full corporate coverage, use a commercial company-data provider alongside our data.
A registry record means only that an official register recorded the company or person. It is not a screening hit.
Using the full registry data
There are no public bulk files or public API endpoints for registry data yet. Registry data is delivered under a licence, subject to each register's own terms, and registry lookups through the API are available on request.
Plan for the volume: the registry tables together are many times the size of the screening data, so load them into a database rather than working with files directly.
